Identify and fix aerodynamic rotor imbalances.

 

Blade angle differences are the number one cause of aerodynamically excited imbalances. From an angle difference of 0.5° the tower shows a swinging behaviour characteristic of an unbalanced oscillation.

The tower vibration is a good indicator for the level of imbalance.

The ROMEG method was developed by windcomp GmbH and is based on a reflectorless laser distance measurement on the WTG in operation.

With ROMEG measurement we log the blade profiles, the tower movements and the blade-deflection.

 

In the subsequent data analysis we evaluate the behaviour of tower and rotor.

 

The results are immediately available on site after data recording and analysis.



Our experience with plants measured “without suspicion” shows:

 

                            One in two WTG has an angular difference > 0.5°
                        One in five WTG has an angular difference > 1.0°

 

 

In contrast to an imbalanced turbine, a WTG with a well-balanced rotor shows the following attributes:

 

                             Better performance
                             Higher availability

                             Longer service-life of all components

Benefits of ROMEG method:

 

      The laser measurement is carried out on the turbine in operation.  By this you can see the behaviour of the rotor and tower under real conditions.

The results are available on site and can be used immediately for optimizing the pitch angles.
By comparing the tower vibrations before and after the correction, the success of optimization measures is clearly provable.

As the measurements are carried out on the turbine in operation there are no yield losses.

 

Our method was verified by DEWI-OCC in 2014.
